True Colours Workshops

What is True Colours?

True Colours is a simple method of personality assessment that improves internal communication and professional development through recognition of a person’s true character.

Using the colours orange, green, blue and gold, True Colours distils the complexity of personality theory into a simple, practical tool that’s both fun to use and easy to remember.

Highly interactive, the method identifies and calls attention to the intrinsic values, motivations, sources of dignity, causes of stress, learning styles and other key factors that affect business relationships daily.

How can True Colours help my business?

In any business, it’s important to understand yourself first in order to work at your best with others. True Colours teaches enhanced self-awareness, self-esteem and recognition of the values, joys, strengths and stresses of each personality group.

These learnings can lead to:

  • More effective communication between coworkers
  • A greater sense of team unity
  • Improved morale
  • Deeper relationships
  • Enhanced customer experience
  • Improved business growth and success
  • Better Selling Techniques

True Colours History

The theory behind True Colours can be traced back to 460BC when Hippocrates identified four different temperaments of human beings. Today, groupings of four types, functions or colours connects many predominant personality theories, including those by Carl Jung, David Kiersey and Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs.

True Colours was developed by Don Lowry out of these theories and modified to be fun and memorable. He studied the meanings associated with colours, such as ‘good as gold’ and ‘true blue’. He then researched the effects of colours and carefully chose those that most closely resemble the characteristics they represent.

Most people have a dominant colour and are influenced or ‘shaded’ by the other three – thus creating our individual True Colour Spectrum. Understanding this spectrum allows for more effective communications both personally and professionally, as a team and with customer.
